Jerry Seinfeld in launching a new tv show and this time it’s about something. I say it’s about time!
Jerry Seinfeld has reunited with NBC for a reality show called “The Marriage Ref”. This reality show will consists of athletes, celebrities and comedians that will be giving advice to disputing married couples.
“The Marriage Ref” is scheduled to air this fall. NBC is putting together the first six hour-long episodes for the airing this fall. This will be Jerry’s first TV show since the fabulous “Seinfeld” show came to an end back in May of 1998. After nine years, Jerry will now play the role of executive-producer of the
show “The Marriage Ref”, which he created himself. Which means he won’t be starring in the show but on some occassions, we might see him on camera as he may make an appearance from time to time.
Although this new reality show has athletes, celebrities and comedian voicing their personal opinion on marriage scenarios, Seinfeld has stated that “this is not a therapy show, it’s a comedy show. After nine years of marriage, I have discovered that the comedic potential of this subject is quite rich.”
The idea came to Jerry one day when him and his wife, Jessica, were arguing while a friend was visiting. Which made the friend very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. The friend was then asked to be a “marriage ref”, of which the friend obliged.
Jerry Seinfeld further developed this thought with the help of a friend, Ellen Rakieten. After 23 years with the Oprah Winfrey’s production company Ellen Rakieten has recently resigned. Ellen now brings the problem-solving experience while Jerry brings the comic sensibility to “The Marriage Ref”.
I look forward to watching this show! I really enjoyed the “Seinfeld” episodes and was saddened when that show came to an end. I’m anxious to see this show about something.
