The Apollo Theater is coming up on it’s 75th anniversary. In honor of this celebration the Apollo Theater will be adding two recipients into their Hall of Fame. The two recipients are music entertainer Quincy Jones and R&B artist Patti LaBelle.
There will also be an arts and humanitarian award that will be presented to Bill Cosby and his wife, Camille. Denzel and Pauletta Washington and Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee have in the past been recipients of this award. The arts and humanitarian award was named after Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.
This celebration will take place on June 8th and will benefit the landmark of Harlem theater. The performers for this event include Jamie Foxx (actor and comedian), Mariah Carey (singer), Anita Baker (singer) and O’Jays (R&B group).
