CSI Sued Over Invasion Of Privacy

Melinda and Scott Tamkin are suing CSI’s writer for defamation and invasion of privacy. They claim that on a “CSI” episode two characters were named after them in an attempt to seek revenge on a real estate deal that didn’t go very well.
The couple is suing writer and producer Sarah Goldfinger for $6 million in damages which they claim are the damages to their real estate business. The couple met Sarah back in 2005 when she wanted to buy a home from a homeowner represented by Melinda and Scott. Sarah backed out of the sale when it was in escrow. There didn’t seem to be any indication of any animosity between them at that time.
Based on the lawsuit, the “CSI:Crime Scene Investigation” that the Tamkins are suing over had a real estate agent by the name of Melinda and her husband by the name of Scott who is a mortgage broker. In the show Melinda dies mysteriously and her husband, Scott, who is a pornography fan and likes to drink is the primary suspect. The last name was also Tamkin but that changed to Tucker at the last minute. Also, the actors that were to play Melinda and Scott even resembled the Tamkins.
The Tamkins’ attorney, Anthony Glassman, says that potential clients looking for their real estate company could have been deterred from contacting them because of the episode descriptions that were online for months before the program aired.
