Two professional models filed a suit in federal court in New York, claiming an anti-methamphetamine ad damaged their reputation.
The models, a woman and a 7-year-old girl, said in the suit filed last week, the ad made it look like the little girl’s front teeth were missing because the meth-addicted mother ignored and abused the little girl, Courthouse News Service provided.
“That the image of plaintiff child used by defendants highlights her lack of front teeth and would be reasonable construed by those with a knowledge of methamphetamine abuse as a photograph accurately depicting the malady known as ‘meth mouth’ or in the alternative as set forth herein, a result of child abuse or neglect,” the suit says.
The suit filed will be the two models versus 16 defendants, including the Office of National Drug Control Policy and DraftFCB. The New York Post reported the claim of the suit at $90 million.
The advertisement signals that the woman in the ad is a mother whose attempt to lose weight resulted in a life-changing meth addiction. The little girl is pictured without her two front teeth. “She abandoned her family, including her 4-year-old daughter, for nearly a year in search of her next high,” the advertisement says.

We are the attorneys representing the child and adult models in this case. The ad falsely portrays the adult as a meth addict, child abuser, neglectful parent who abandoned her child. The charges are false. The child is portrayed as abused and/or having lost her teeth as a result of meth and/or physical abuse.
Neither model consented to such use or portrayal. The images were Photoshopped and altered without the models’ permission. The case claims libel and violation of the NY Civil Rights Law which requires written consent of any person used in an ad - no child can consent to being libeled.
Both the adult and child are portrayed falsely.
