Justin Timberlake is building a golf course near Memphis that will offer a luxury setting at a relatively simple cost, the site’s general manager said.

Richard Peterson said the golf course is part of the pop singer’s plan for a perfect place for Memphis residents, The Commercial Appeal reported on Sunday. Green fees will be about $59 to $71 per round.

“Justin and the Harlesses (his mother, Lynn, and stepfather, Paul) do not need to commercialize Mirimichi for profit,” Peterson said of the site. “It’s to thank Memphians for everything they’ve done.”

The first $16 million phase of the singer’s project is made possible by his estimated $44 million in income from 2007-08.

Though golf course architect Kevin Tucker notes more courses are closing than opening now a days, Greg King told The Commercial Appeal it should be a prized property once it is completed.

“We feel it would rival any of the great upscale daily-fee courses in the country,” King stated.
