Tyler Perry has cast Mary J. Blige, the nine time Grammy winner, in “I Can Do Bad All by Myself”. Taraji P. Henson will also join the cast in this Lionsgate film due in theaters on September 11th. Taraji P. Henson was recently nominated for an Oscar.
“I Can Do Bad All by Myself” is an adaptation of one of Perry’s early plays. In this film Blige plays a nightclub manager and singer. Blige’s character and Henson’s character play good friends in this film. One of Perry’s creations, Madea, will also appear in the movie. This is going to be shot at Tyler Perry’s Studios in Atlanta.
Blige has been keeping herself pretty busy. She has two sold-out national tours, is currently working on a new album which is scheduled to be released some time this year and recently guest-starred on “Entourage”.
