Matt Lauer was not on the air Monday because of a riding accident that took place over the weekend.
Matt and a deer crossed paths as Matt was riding his bike. Matt flipped off his bike and over his handlebars. He was slightly hurt.
Meredith Vieria, Matt’s broadcast partner, was joking with Matt on the air about the accident. Meredith said that Matt, “thinks the deer was hired by the competition,” but Meredith insisted that that was not true. Meredith said jokingly, “I hired the deer, but I said, ‘just graze him’.”
The deer did more than just graze Matt. Matt suffers a displaced shoulder. Ouch!
UPDATE:: Matt returned to work on Thursday, with his arm in a sling, and was welcomed by his playful colleagues don deer antlers.
