Maya Rudolph says she was “lucky” to have played a complicated character in her upcoming movie “Away We Go.”
Rudolph said it was a nice experience to take a break from her comedic personality for the new romantic comedy, Parade magazine reported on Friday.
“I knew that I would get to find the opportunity to play a special person who was more than just funny, she said. “And I got really lucky with this character.”
Rudolph, who is pregnant, told Parade she used her experiences as a mother to fuel her character in “Away.”
“One of the main connections I had with my character was that journey that you go through when you’re about to have a baby,” she said. “I could relate to the people giving you so much information that you didn’t need or want or ask for and also having some of it be completely outrageous.”
