Oksana Grigorieva Wasn’t Cause Of Mel’s Divorces Says Mom

Lyudmila Chernukha, the mother of Oksana Grigorieva and a retired Russian music teacher, says that Oksana was not the cause of Mel Gibson’s divorce. Lyudmila did not confirm the rumors of Oksana caring Mel’s child. Lyudmila told PEOPLE in an interview at her home near Moscow, “I can’t say anything. Wait for the official statement from them.”
Lyudmila said that her daughter, singer Oksana, is signed to Mel’s record label. She stated that her daughter and Mel started seeing each other after Mel and his wife separated back in 2006.
Lyudmila said, “He split up with his wife three years ago, so to suggest that she has broken up their marriage is rubbish. He was no longer with his wife so he was bound to meet some woman at some point, it just happened to be Oksana.”
Robyn, Mel’s wife of 28 years, filed for divorce on April 13 stating that there were “irreconcilable differences”. There was no date specified as a date of separation. Mel does say that they separated in August of 2006. This was a month after his DUI incident.
Mel did confirm that he and Oksana were dating when they made an appearance on the red-carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on April 28.
While there are rumors of Oksana being pregnant with Mel’s child, Mel’s rep has declined to comment. Oksana resides with her son Alexander, son of actor Timothy Dalton, in a home owned by a trust linked to Gibson’s production company in Sherman Oaks while she is working on a record.
Lyudmila says that her daughter is homesick. “I talk to her all the time and she really misses Russia. It’s her homeland. ” Oksana’s mother and father visit her often in California.
