On stage Maxwell performs smooth and suave but he says it’s just an act. Even though he says he’s insecure, his performances say otherwise. His concert tour last fall seemed to have boosted his confidence about releasing his new album.
He had this to say, “Just the encouragement, you can’t imagine. I’m an insecure person at best. … I feel like going on the road, I got so much inspiration.” His road trip inspired him to create his latest album, “BLACKsummers’night.”
This new album is scheduled to be released on July 7. The release will also mark his first album in almost 8 years. He’s best known for his hits “Sumthin’ Sumthin’” and “Fortunate”. “Pretty Wings”, the album’s first single has already been released on radio stations. The album itself is part of a trilogy. The second and third parts are scheduled for release in 2010 and 2011.
Maxwell was asked about the kind of reception he would be expecting for the album and his response was, “I try not to live by expectations. If you just do it with love, the rest will be taken care of.”
