Snoop was scheduled to testify in a trial on Monday. The trial was for an incident that occurred in 2005 at one of his concerts. Calvin Broadus, Snoop Dogg, is being accused of beating a fan with a brass-knuckle microphone on stage.
Calvin denied hitting Richard Monroe Jr. He told the jurors that he went back to the tour bus immediately after Richard jumped on stage and put his arm on Calvin. Richard was tackled by security. He was also beaten by The Game, a rapper group that was touring with Snoop on the “How the West Was Won” tour.
Calvin was on the stand for almost two hours at which he was mostly serious but did have a few moments of levity. When he was detailing those on stage in a frame-by-frame analysis he was having a difficult time making out the face. Calvin told his lawyer, “Man! I can’t it out - a lot of bald heads.”
Richard’s attorney attempted to question Calvin about drug use the night of the concert in an attempt to challenge Calvin’s clear recollection of the incident. The judge rejected this attempt.
Richard is sueing for $22 million. A 12 person jury will determine if any money will be given to Mr. Monroe.
