Gary Smith has been hired to direct and produce a two-hour television show special called “Super Models Hall of Fame,” Jaffe & Co. Inc. announced on Thursday.

Smith has closed a deal with executive producers Steve Jaffe and Linda Morand.

The program is planned to be a tribute to the super models of the past six decades. In addition it will serve to set up the “Super Models Hall of Fame” as an annual event.

The contestants will be selected by a panel of publishers, agents, designers, photographers and others in the fashion world.

“The concept for the show started with Morand’s Web site, ‘MiniMadModSixties,’ for which she has collected approximately 19,000 images from the covers of Vogue Magazine

and other publications of all of the top models of their respective eras,” the producers of the show said in a news release. “A special award will be presented for life-time achievement to a top fashion designer and fashion photographer in the program slated for fall of 2010. Actress and former top fashion model Susan Blakely has been signed by the producers to be one of the hosts of the show.”

The news release didn’t say what channel the show would air on.
